Sizing Up The Damage

Nail pops, small holes, and cracked corners all get fixed differently. We look at the damage first so we're not putting a patch over a problem that will just come back.

Cutting Back To A Clean Edge

For holes, we cut the damaged drywall back to a clean square edge and add a backing board behind it, so the new patch has something solid to screw into.

Taping And Coating

We tape the seams and apply two to three thin coats of joint compound, sanding lightly between each one. Thick single coats are what cause cracking later on.

Matching The Texture

Most homes have some kind of texture on the wall, whether it's orange peel, knockdown, or smooth. We match it as closely as we can so the patch blends in under paint instead of standing out.

Priming Before Paint

A fresh patch soaks up paint differently than the rest of the wall until it's primed. We always prime first so the final coat looks even.
